Vaseline / Petroleum Jelly Stain

You should be able to remove the Vaseline on your carpet by washing with a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent designed for cutting grease. Vaseline should not stain, as it is often used as a stain remover for dried on paint, etc. If any residue remains after your carpet has dried, you can treat the area with dry cleaning fluid.
