Interesting Stuff...

  • Victoria Park, also know as Vicky Park or the People’s Park, is an area of 86.18 hectares of open space, spreading out across part of the East End of London. Victoria Park E9 borders parts of Bethnal Green, Hackney and Bow, including Old Ford Road, London E3 and Victoria Park Road E9.

  • Located approximately a mile away from the London Olympic Park, Victoria Park is entirely situated in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and is often used as a concert venue and host to many festivals each year.

  • Between 1842 and 1846 the Crown Estate bought 218 acres which were laid out by notable London planner and architect Sir James Pennethorne.

  • A part of the area of Victoria Park was known as Bonner Fields, called so after Bishop Bonner, who was the last lord of the manor of Stepney. Although the land had originally been parkland, associated with the Bishop’s Palace, it was the middle of 1800s when it had been spoiled by the extraction of gravel, and clay for bricks.
