Leyton lies in the Lower Lea Valley. One of the most significant amenities in Leyton is the London Velopark. The site includes a 6,000 seat indoor velodrome for track cycling, as well as an outdoor BMX racing track with about the same capacity. The Velodrome, which is officially known as the Lee Valley VeloPark, was one of the permanent facilities for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. The venue is currently closed. It will be owned and run by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, and will open to the public in March 2014.
