Let me start first with a statement – I don’t like lazy benefit system milking people! It is simply not right to steal money from the hard working folk’s taxes. To falsely claim incapacity benefit and to go out and work as a window cleaner just to get more money is even worse than just milking the system. It is called greed and disrespect to everybody else who earns an honest living.
One such “smart” geezer is Thomas Kenny. He claimed his back was so bad he couldn’t walk. He has been claiming incapacity benefit and disability living allowance since 2007 and 2008. The cheat claimed he had to use wheelchair in order to move around, so “bad” was the pain in his back. He also claimed that he:
- could not walk 5 metres for less than 4 minutes
- could not wash or dry himself
- could not climb the stairs without help
yet he was grafting as a traditional ladders, squeegee and applicator window cleaner!!! Amazingly, he did not need any help to lift ladders, climb to clean glass on second storeys, lift heavy spare tyre to change a flat one and he definitely could walk 5 minutes for significantly less than 4 minutes, as video recorded by investigators.
He was sentenced to 8 months in prison today.
What makes his situation even worse is the fact that the cheat was sentenced back in 2009 for the same offence – providing false information in order to obtain incapacity and disability benefits. He was sentenced to 4 months in prison back then but obviously he has not learned his lesson. Kenny has started claiming incapacity and disability benefits immediately after being released from prison, where he served only 1 month in prison.
This is where our money goes sometimes – to the clever cheating scum of the earth, who would would not go out and work hard to support his family. No, he must get some free meals as well (£33,000 during the course of 5 and a half years). I wouldn’t mind 6 grand free money per year too, but I know it’s wrong and it does not belong to me – it belongs to the one who really need support from the government. And I don’t try to work out a way of claiming. But
There will always be (obviously) people who will try obtaining free meal tickets. If it is theoretically possible to cheat the system then it will happen inevitably in practice too. Unless this this soft, vulnerable and full of exploits benefit system goes and gets replaced by a fair, robust and impossible to milk system, we will be reading lots of these “amazing” stories in the papers.
I say enough is enough. Do you?
