Did you know that…

  • Barkingside is an area which until 1965 was historically part of Essex. It is best known for the children’s charity Barnardo’s, which was established on the site in 1866.
  • Some of the oldest buildings in the area include: the underground station, which was originally an Edwardian mainline station, the Holy Trinity Church, dating back to 1840, and Barnardo’s chapel. It is also known for comprising a relatively large Jewish community.
