Did you know that…

Stifford is a residential area in Essex and part of the traditional parish of Stifford. It is the location of the parish church, St Mary. In 2005, during building and repairing works carried on the site, an Anglo-Saxon building was uncovered. A discovery that proved that there was a church on this site of Stifford since at least the 11 century. Today St Mary still contains some fascinating medieval monumental brasses. There are also two War Memorials at its grounds. A statue in the church yard dedicated to the fallen of the World War I, and a plaque commemorating those who gave their lives during the World War II.
