- Istead Rise is a village within the borough of Gravesham in Kent located three miles south of Gravesend with a population of 3,505 according to the census in 2001.
- The village is situated 23 miles east of London on the A2 Road with the nearest railway station located 2 miles away at Meopham. It is also 4 miles from Ebbsfleet International railway station, which stared operating in 2007 for Eurostar services providing lines to Parish, Brussels and Lille.
- In the area of Istead Rise DA13 there is the new Liner Park. It is located on the site of the old A2, in a 15 minute walking distance and 5 minutes by bike from the parish. The park is suited for cycling, walking and jogging. Nell’s Café and Shorne Country park are situated at one end, and Sainsbury’s at the other.
- In the 1860s Istead Rise was a pig-farming community, situated in the North Downs pathway. A pig farm used to exist on the site where now is the Istead Rise Primary School.
