The Parish of Clay Hill is situated to the north of Enfield. Interesting for visitors are Clay Hill Hall, Forty Hall and local parks.
The King and Tinker is one of the famous pubs in the area. Situated on Whitewebbs Lane, Clay Hill EN2, it is a curious and slightly odd pub that was set in a rural location, near the M25 Motorway. Perhaps the most striking feature of the venue is what appears to be a scaled-down medieval manor house door. And when you pass that ancient gate, you enter a ‘baronial’ bar with an oversized fireplace. The medieval décor is finished with heavy oak beams spanning the low ceilings, creating a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The odd name of the pub comes from a ballad telling the story of an encounter between King James I and a local tinker. According to the story, the King was separated from his courtiers during a hunt, and he took shelter in an alehouse.
