What Happens on the Day

Typical drying time: up to 6 hours

  1. Survey

We check the fibre, fitting and condition of each carpet and note any stains before we start. Furniture legs go onto protective pads and door frames are guarded.

  2. Pre-treat

Dry soil is vacuumed out first, because water turns it to mud. A pre-spray matched to wool or synthetic fibre is applied and agitated in.

  3. Hot water extraction

Remaining spots are treated individually, then the carpet is rinsed and extracted at controlled heat. A citrus deodoriser goes in with the final rinse.

  4. Dry and finish

An air mover is left running to speed up drying and the pile is groomed in one direction. Scotchgard goes on now if you’ve asked for it.

What Camden Customers Say

★★★★★ Trustpilot 5.0 from 452 reviews · Google 4.7 from 361 reviews

Carpet cleaning
“Red wine on a pale bedroom carpet and a coffee ring in the hallway, both months old. The technician had them both out in under fifteen minutes and the rest of the flat looked brand new.”

S. Kowalski · Fortess Road, NW5

Stair runner cleaning
“Four floors of wool stair runner in a Belsize Park townhouse, and it hadn’t been cleaned since we moved in. They did every step in place without lifting the rods, the colour came back, and it was dry by evening.”

Olivia P. · Lambolle Road, NW3

Carpet cleaning + pet odour
“A Labrador, a toddler and a cream lounge carpet in a Kilburn flat – I’d nearly given up. The pet odour treatment worked first time, and the technician talked me through every step before starting.”

Marcus T. · Brondesbury Road, NW6

Cleaning Carpets Across Camden

Camden stretches from the Georgian squares of Bloomsbury to the hilltop villas of Hampstead, and almost every street brings its own carpet challenge. The tall stucco houses of Belsize Park and the Victorian terraces of Kentish Town still have long, steep staircases – often four or five flights of wool or wool-mix runner held with brass rods or tacks, wearing hardest on the nosings and on every landing turn. In the larger Hampstead and Belsize homes there are also fine wool fitted carpets and hand-knotted rugs that need a low-moisture method and a pre-spray matched to the fibre, so the pile doesn’t brown, shrink or lose colour.

The rest of the borough is mostly flats. There are Bloomsbury mansion blocks with porters, lifts that won’t take a full machine and strict working hours; split-level conversions in Kilburn and Cricklewood with steep, narrow stairs and synthetic carpet over old boards; and new developments around King’s Cross with concierge access, fitted carpet in the bedrooms only, and a steady turnover of tenants. Rentals and student lets near the universities mean end-of-tenancy deadlines are common. Whatever the property, every visit starts with a survey of fibre, fitting and access before any water goes down.

Access and parking

Nearly every street in Camden sits inside a controlled parking zone. Hours vary from zone to zone – many run on weekdays, some into evenings and weekends – and parking is especially tight around Camden Town, King’s Cross and Hampstead Village.

We’ll ask for a visitor permit when you book, or arrange a bay suspension for larger jobs. Where the van can’t park close, or for mansion blocks and top-floor conversions, we carry a portable extraction unit up instead of running hoses from the street.

Cricklewood

Camden’s side of Cricklewood, around the Mapesbury streets and Cricklewood Broadway, is mostly Edwardian houses split into flats and flatshares. Hard-working synthetic carpets and frequent tenancy changes make end-of-tenancy cleans and deodorising our most common jobs here.

Carpet cleaning in Cricklewood

Hampstead

Large Victorian and Arts and Crafts houses around Fitzjohn’s Avenue, Church Row and the Heath often have deep-pile wool carpets, long runners and valuable rugs. We protect original joinery and use a low-moisture method wherever the dyes call for it.

Carpet cleaning in Hampstead

Kentish Town

Victorian terraces off Kentish Town Road, Leighton Road and Fortess Road mean family carpets, busy hallways and steep stair runners. Stain removal and pet odour treatment are frequent requests, and we clean stairs and landings as one job.

Carpet cleaning in Kentish Town

Kilburn

Converted townhouses and mansion blocks along the Camden side of Kilburn High Road are often top-floor flats with no lift. We carry a portable extraction unit upstairs rather than running hoses, and leave carpets dry enough to walk on the same day.

Carpet cleaning in Kilburn

Belsize Park

Tall white stucco villas and split-level conversions around Belsize Square and Lambolle Road bring four- and five-flight wool runners held with rods. We clean them in place, top to bottom, with a pre-spray matched to wool.

Carpet cleaning in Belsize Park

Bloomsbury

Georgian terraces, mansion flats and student lets around Russell Square, Gordon Square and Lamb’s Conduit Street. We work with porters on access and lift times, and handle tenancy changeovers to agency standards.

Carpet Cleaning in Camden: Your Questions Answered

Straight answers to the questions Camden customers ask most before booking a carpet clean.

Can you clean a wool stair runner without lifting it?

Yes. Most of the stair runners we clean in Belsize Park, Kentish Town and Hampstead stay exactly where they are. We work top to bottom, step by step, with a wool-safe pre-spray and controlled extraction, paying extra attention to the nosings and landing turns where wear and dirt build up. Stair rods and tacks stay in place, so there’s no refitting afterwards.

Is it safe to clean a hand-knotted or Persian rug at home?

In most cases, yes. Before we start, we test the dyes for colour-fastness and check the fibre, backing and fringes. Where the dyes are stable, we use a gentle low-moisture method; where they aren’t, we’ll tell you before anything is done rather than take the risk. Many of the rugs we see in Hampstead and Bloomsbury homes are old and valuable, and we treat them that way.

Do I need to move furniture before you arrive?

It helps to clear small items such as toys, plants, shoes and anything fragile from the floor. Our technicians can move standard furniture like chairs, coffee tables and side tables, and put it back on protective pads so nothing marks the damp carpet. Very heavy or valuable pieces, such as pianos, large wardrobes and antiques, are best left in place, and we’ll clean carefully around them.

Can you clean carpets in a top-floor flat with no lift?

Yes. Many Camden homes are upper-floor conversions in Kilburn, Cricklewood or Kentish Town, or mansion flats where the lift is small or off-limits for equipment. In those cases we bring a portable extraction unit up the stairs instead of running hoses from the van, so the results are the same and the shared hallway stays clear and protected.

Will a professional carpet clean help at the end of my tenancy?

Many Camden landlords and letting agents ask for carpets to be professionally cleaned at the end of a tenancy, particularly in flatshares and student lets. We clean to a standard agents recognise, treat stains and odours left behind, and can combine the carpet clean with a full end of tenancy clean so everything is ready for the check-out inspection.

Can you get rid of pet urine smells for good?

In most cases, yes. Our enzyme-based treatments break down the source of the odour in the carpet fibres rather than masking it with fragrance, and we treat the affected area deeply, not just the surface. If urine has soaked right through into the underlay over a long period, we’ll be honest that the underlay may need replacing, and tell you before we start.
