Interesting Stuff
Eynsford is a village in Kent and it’s railway station was built in 1862. There are three interesting places in the village- Eynsford Castle, Lullingstone Castle and the Roman villa.
Dating from 1088, Eynsford Castle is one of the first and most complete castles to be built by the Normans after they invaded England in 1066. Looted in the 14 century, it fell into despair and has for many years been used as dog kennels by the Hart-Dyke family who occupied the nearby Lullingstone Castle. Now owned and operated by English Heritage, the impressive ruin has been restored and is open to the public. Despite the weathering of time and devastating wars, the great hall and the main wall of the original structure are still visible. The castle is surrounded by wonderful Kent countryside and is the perfect place for a walk.
