  • Canonbury Square Gardens. Canonbury Square Gardens in Islington N1 is a large public garden space situated at the heart of the wonderful Canonbury Square. The site was similarly landscaped in style to the many gardens and parks in Southwest London. Canonbury Square Gardens is beautifully set with a lot of trees, water, flower and shrub beds, providing the ideal place for rest and relaxation for the Islington community. The Canonbury Square itself was developed in the early 19th century on land that was owned by the Marquess of Northampton. Before the square was fully built, the site was intersected by Canonbury Road and had two garden enclosures. The gardens were originally private up until 1884.
     
  • Islington Museum. This museum was recently re-located in 2008 at 245 St John St, Islington, and hosts an extensive collection of objects and artefacts relating to the history of the London Borough of Islington. Formed in 1965, the actual borough of Islington is comparatively young. On displays at the museum are a series of the original documents confirming the formation of this ceremonial are of London. Other interesting features on display include photograph archives that date back to the time when the first photo camera was invented. On the site there is also a small library that keeps studies materials from local resources.
     
  • Almeida Theatre. It is situated in the residential road Almeida Street, just off Upper Street in Islington N1. The theatre opened in 1980, and since then it gained a reputation of being one of the finest theatre venues, set outside the centre of London. The statue was designed by a group of designers in 2003, and is considered to be the largest artwork in the whole of the capital.
