The Nerdy Stuff We Love About The Bookhams

  • Great Bookham Church. Located in the beautiful Surrey village of Great Bookham KT23, it is a fascinating Norman church. The church has been at the heart of the local community for over a thousand years and has managed to preserve much of its original features. The facility we see today was built in the 12th century, on a site where a Saxon place for worship used to stand. Throughout the many centuries of existence the church has seen periods of growth and expansion, especially during the 15th and 16th centuries when a number of extra spaces were added to the site. Today the Great Bookham Church has a two-acre churchyard, and is home to a large congregation of devoted and carrying people who meet regularly for worship and prayer.
  • Bocketts’ Farm Park. It is a working family farm located in the Surrey countryside close to The Bookhams. The farm combines farmyard animal displays and children play areas, both inside and out, ensuring there is always something to keep your kids entertained, no matter the weather. Habitants of Bocketts’ Farm Park include a wide range from typical farmyard animals, such as ducks, geese, donkeys and pigs, to small animals like guinea pigs, chipmunks and rabbits. In addition, the park’s newly built Big Animal Barn is the ideal place to get up close to the larger animals and even feed them. The play areas, which include outdoor trampolines, electric ride on tractors, large astroslide and indoor maze, are split evenly between the barns.
  • The area has a Non-League football club, named Bookham FC. The club was formed in the early 1910s and was originally known as Bookham Blues. In the 1995-96 season the team joined the Surrey Country Senior League and managed to remain there for 7 seasons. In more recent times, in 2003, they joined the Combined Counties League. Bookham are affiliated to the Surrey County Football Association and currently play in the Surrey Elite Intermediate League.
