Interesting Stuff

Limehouse is a place in East London stretching from Limehouse basin to Commercial Road. The area is served by Docklands Light Railway and C2C. Limehouse is not far from Canary Wharf- major financial centre in London. The main road A13 passes through Limehouse which makes the area well connected to the rest of London.

Limehouse’s church was built by Nicholas Hawksmoor and is dedicated to St Anne. Consecrated in 1730, it was one of the 12 churches that were built through the 1711 Act of Parliament. The church was formed from part of the former large parish of St Dunstan’s Stepney. St Anne’s stands next to Limehouse Town Hall and close to Limehouse Library, which are both Grade II listed buildings. The church is home to a large Christian community with members of all ages, backgrounds and colours. The congregation meets regularly for worship and prayer and to get involved in the social affairs of the day.
