London Fields refers to a public park and residential area in the London Borough of Hackney, East London. The site, which was first recorded in 1540 as a place for drovers to pasture their cattle before taking them to the market, is home to one of the most magnificent swimming pools in London. London Fields Lido was constructed back in the 1930’s, and is the only Olympic sized outdoor heated swimming pool in the capital. The facility reopened in 2006 after being closed for nearly two decades. The lido has been beautifully transformed and is now a popular place for relaxation in the hot summer days. The site includes individual and group changing facilities, as well as a refreshments pavilion and a friendly café.
