Located in Randlesdown Road, the centre was opened in April 2004 after funding of over 5 million pounds was raised by Billingham Community Project. It is a unique community centre providing residents of Bellingham and the neighbouring area with sporting facilities. The centre includes a gym, indoor play zone, fitness centre, junior fitness, exercise classes, over 50s programme, crèche and outdoor activities. Bellingham Leisure and Lifestyle Centre has more than 13,000 members and houses the Ladywell Gymnastics Club on its grounds. It is one of the UK’s oldest gym clubs, having been opened in 1967. Forster Memorial Park
Situated off Whitefoot Lane it is a popular public park and unusual in that the central area of grassland is roughly surrounded by a ring of ancient woodland. Forster Memorial Park was originally consist of part woodland, part fields, and owned by the Forster family. It was in 1919 when Lord Forster, who was a local resident as Governor General of Australia from 1920 to 1925, gave part of his estate as a memorial to his two sons, John and Alfred, who both died in the World War I. Today the ancient woodland of the park offers peace and tranquillity in this heavily urbanised area. The park includes a number of play and sports facilities, such as two full-sized football pitches, a BMX track, a junior football pitch and a new children’s playground.
